A living, expansive and evolving spirituality

These are some of the ways my Inner Light shines. It’s important to note that you don’t have to resonate with all these for me to accompany you, but it may be helpful to you to understand where/how I am rooted.

What called me

To accompany someone through their own spiritual experience and inner world is an honour. Every session, I also come away transformed. This has affirmed, again and again, that this is the truest calling I have known.

Roots and traditions

My practice is rooted in a living, expansive and evolving spirituality; what the modern mystic Cynthia Bourgeault might describe as pan-religious: the great sacred traditions understood as colours of the rainbow, each one a unique and irreplaceable expression of the same light.

My own light has a strong Christian hue. I grew up within a broad Christianity — Quaker, Anglican and Russian Orthodox — traditions that I still participate in and, despite their differences, sit respectfully side by side for me. From quite a young age I was drawn to reflection, listening and inward attention, and encountered spirituality as something multi-layered rather than singular; something that could be held in ritual and in presence.

Beyond Christianity, my experience of the Divine is broad. It includes Buddhist mindfulness and Zen yoga, the sacredness of prehistoric ritual places, and much else besides. My relationship with faith has never been linear. There have been times of deep belonging and other times of more open, exploratory forms. Rather than seeing this as inconsistency, I now hold it as part of a living spiritual journey shaped by wisdom, movement and return, through which I continue to engage with what feels true.

Nature as teacher

Being in nature has turned out to be a vital resource for me. It offers a different kind of attention: more spacious, more magical, less mediated by thought. In natural environments I often experience a sense of coming home, as though something within me is settling into alignment.

There is something about the vastness of sky, the openness of landscape, and the crashing of waves that brings me closer to a felt experience of the sacred. Not as an idea or concept, but as a presence in the now. Nature reminds me to slow down enough to notice what is already unfolding, and to stay in relationship with something much bigger, living and breathing.

Creativity and listening

I am a musician, dancer, creative producer and poet, and these practices continue to be a primary outlet for me. They are ways of discovering and sharing experience with others. They remain a place where things emerge, where meaning is formed, and where attunement often arrives through sensation rather than explanation.

In many ways, spirituality, nature and creativity have never been separate for me. Across all of them, I have learned how to listen deeply and differently, paying attention to rhythm, breath, tone, energy, stillness and joy.

How I came to this work

For many years I worked in cultural leadership across the arts, supporting individuals, organisations and creative communities. Beneath the structures and outputs, I kept encountering people carrying questions that had no designated space: questions of meaning, change, identity, loss and longing, everywhere present, yet rarely spoken aloud.

Over time I began to recognise that I was often holding space for these moments, sensing what lay beneath what was being said, and accompanying people in simply acknowledging it. This recognition gradually became the foundation for my study as a spiritual director. It was not a sudden decision, but a slow convergence of threads that began to feel as though they belonged to the same place.

Code of practice

I trained for two years as a Spiritual Director at Sarum College. I am now registered with the London Centre for Spiritual Directors and adhere to their Code of Practice. I engage in regular supervision and receive ongoing Spiritual Direction myself. I have undertaken safeguarding training and will continue to refresh my training at least every three years. I have professional indemnity insurance. I have a DBS certificate.

If we choose to work together, I ask that we both sign a covenant agreement to ensure that you can be confident of a confidential, non-judgemental space in which dialogue is open, your voice is heard and there is space to explore your own thoughts as I accompany you on your journey of spirituality / faith.
